Liner Fabrics

Liner Fabrics are specialised processing fabrics used throughout the tyre manufacturing process to enable the safe handling, winding, storage, transportation, and unwinding of uncured rubber compounds and rubber-coated textile or steel reinforcement materials.

Unlike tyre reinforcement fabrics, liner fabrics are auxiliary process materials that prevent adjacent rubber surfaces from sticking together while preserving the inherent tack required for subsequent tyre building operations. They play a critical role in maintaining component quality from the calendaring line to the tyre building machine, reducing material damage, contamination, wrinkles, and dimensional distortion.

At GD Performance Textiles Pvt. Ltd. (GDPT), we manufacture high-performance woven Liner Fabrics engineered for demanding tyre production environments. Depending on the application, our liners are produced using carefully selected Polypropylene Multifilament, Polypropylene Monofilament, Polyester, Polyethylene, Nylon, and specialised hybrid yarn constructions. Each fabric is designed to provide the optimum balance of tensile strength, dimensional stability, flexibility, stiffness, and controlled surface characteristics required by modern high-speed tyre manufacturing lines.

The performance of a liner fabric is determined not only by its yarn construction but also by its surface engineering. GDPT employs advanced weaving, heat-setting, coating, and finishing technologies to precisely control surface roughness, contact area, friction coefficient, and release characteristics. Our engineered surface treatments minimise imprint marks on uncured rubber while ensuring excellent release without compromising green tack. This enables rubber-coated components to separate cleanly during processing while retaining sufficient tack for accurate positioning during tyre assembly.

Our liner fabrics exhibit high dimensional stability, excellent abrasion resistance, low wrinkling tendency, superior edge integrity, and consistent roll build quality, ensuring trouble-free operation on automated calendaring, cutting, winding, storage, and tyre building equipment. Controlled stiffness prevents telescoping and deformation during winding, while precision weaving maintains uniform fabric geometry across the full roll width, improving handling efficiency and reducing process variability.

GDPT can also develop application-specific liner fabrics with customised constructions, specialised coatings, heat-sealed or woven selvedges, controlled GSM, and tailored release characteristics to match individual customer processes. Backed by stringent quality assurance and decades of expertise in technical textiles, GDPT delivers liner fabric solutions that enhance manufacturing productivity, protect valuable rubber compounds, reduce processing losses, and ensure consistent performance across every stage of tyre production.
